China's Political Season: Visually-challenged CPPCC member vows to promote green printing for Braille
Professor Yang Jia of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences has devoted her life to helping those with disabilities. She is also a national political advisor and has been promoting new technology that will make the Braille writing system more accessible and flexible. CGTN's Cao Bing has more.
Professor Yang Jia teaches at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and is also a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Visually-impaired herself, Yang has been proposing further promotion of "green printing" for Braille at the annual national political gathering since last year.
Green printing was developed by her colleague Song Yanlin, who is a chemist. He's managed to manipulate the ink interface with substrates so that it can be printed into even nanoscale droplet dots in exactly the intended pattern that perfectly matches the need for braille printing.
