Tencent, China Braille Library and others jointly produce barrier-free version of “Catching Dolls”, visually impaired people can “understand” the movie – Passionategeekz


On July 13, Tencent’s official WeChat account published an article today saying that under the guidance of the China Blind Association, Tencent, the China Braille Library, and the Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Industry Association jointly produced an accessible version of the movie “Catching Dolls” which was released today.


It is reported that the film will be shown in Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Suzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu and other cities. 74 theaters offering barrier-free movie viewing.  For screenings, visually impaired people only need to buy tickets normally (choose the signature hall or barrier-free hall of the favorite cinema) and go to watch the movie.


Cinemas that provide the above services provide special headphones for the visually impaired, and “commentary” will be played in the headphones while the film is being shown.A dedicated narrator explains the film’s story environment, characters’ body language and expressions in the blank spaces of the film (no lines, no sound).so that the visually impaired can “understand” the movie.
