Beijing marks 31st National Day for Helping Disabled

"Be joyful always, do your part, care for others and be grateful." A group of people with disabilities sang together at a rehabilitation center in Yongning town, northwestern Beijing's Yanqing district on May 13.

The choir performance was to mark the 31st National Day for Helping the Disabled that falls on May 16.

In 1991, China designated the third Sunday of May as the annual National Day for Helping the Disabled. This year, the theme is "consolidating the results of poverty alleviation and improving the quality of life of people with disabilities."
